you SHOULD be bored sometimes
ask any artist what their source of inspiration is, and they'll tell you. what's mine, though?
being alone. in silence. with my thoughts.
yes, really. i strive to be bored and have a quiet moment to process things. in a tech-dominated age of... you know what... it's rare to have a quiet moment anymore. but you should do your best to find one, in spite of everything.
i know what it's like. you're stressed from long days at work or school, so when you get home, you just want to turn on the TV and binge netflix or youtube to have some form of solace. i get that. but doesn't that just make you feel even more stressed? i find that my best work comes from sitting in silence and wondering, "would this be a good idea? or maybe this?"
one need only look at nature. many social animals have schedules, including humans. most of their day is spent resting or socializing, after the couple hours they spend working, foraging, or hunting. what i'm trying to say is that being constantly stimulated is not natural nor healthy. your brain needs time to slow down. it's not "laziness", it's what animals are supposed to do after a long, hard day.
you SHOULD be bored sometimes. don't listen to anyone telling you that being bored is a bad thing.
