making bad art on purpose
it takes a lot of perseverance to be a terrible artist. you would have to have the mindset of Ed Wood, Yoshiteru Sato, or Seltzer and Friedberg: consistently never make a good piece of art, not even by accident.
but they're not trying to make bad art on purpose. they're just bad artists. what if, however, you DID make bad art on purpose?
a scribbly MS paint doodle, a blurry photo taken on a potato digicam, some rough CGI abomination, windows movie maker-tier home movies, or a dubstep song made of meme sounds (hello, Explorers of the Internet)... there is no greater form of comedy than stylistic suck. but there's also no better way to let loose and have fun as an artist; some of my friends over on the frutiger aero archive made THIS beautiful abomination on an MS paint-based forum game:

and we just had a good time being silly! creating bad art on purpose is both fun and funny. i would not, in good faith, sell it at art shows or submit it to art contests, but some days, you just have to not take everything so seriously. and creating bad art on purpose could be a good stepping stone in eventually creating good art on purpose, as long as you're not Ed Wood. ;) as they say:
"sucking at something is the first step towards being sorta good at something."
