an artist surrounded by nerds

i love the indie web. i think the indie web was the best thing that ever happened to me. if it weren't for the indie web, i wouldn't have been inspired to build my own, serious website with my own touch.

however, there is one teeny tiny problem i have regarding having a blog on the indie web. which is that...

i'm a visual artist, and most of my peers are into the computers.

i know a little bit about computers, and only the most basic of HTML and CSS, but i'm no hacker. i'm no programmer. i'm no engineer. i'm a craftsperson who draws, paints, animates, uses cameras, and edits videos. so any high-level computing terms go in one ear and out the other for me. no offense to any computer scientists reading this; keep blogging about it, i'm all for it. i just need to make more of an effort to find independent blogs that relate to my expertise. i know they're out there; over on neocities there are probably hundreds of artists with blogs. just add a couple of those to my RSS reader, and i'm good.

but in my immediate vicinity, through bear, bubbles, mastodon, gemlogs and whatnot, i'm an artist surrounded by nerds. still, even if i'm not a nerd, all i can say is... i hope i can still feel welcome here.
